Posted by on Oct 2, 2014 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Dear Parents, I have been invited to present at the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Conservation and Technology Conference in November. The topic will be on communicating with parents using technology, and I’d like your feedback on how you feel about this topic! If you could take 5 short minutes and fill out the survey at this link, it would be greatly appreciated. I will be using the information to adjust our means of communication, as well as figure out what is most useful to pass on to other teachers! If there are two parents in a...

Posted by on Sep 22, 2014 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Dear Parents, I have huge news! Our Walk with Pride campaign has been wildly successful and we are reallyreallyreally close to having enough to build our movie studio, our podcasting radio station and provide 1:1 tablet devices for every student in the classroom. A huge thank-you goes out to all the families who have helped with this endeavor! We would love any donation you could send in-every little bit helps. I’m hoping to have this campaign wrapped up by the end of the week so we can get these technology gold-mines ordered and built!...

Walk with Pride Campaign

Posted by on Sep 15, 2014 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Dear Parents, Hello! We are about to launch a very important event for Room 10. Walk with Pride is Pacific Grove’s annual classroom fundraiser. While we have other fundraisers-magazine sales, silent auction, etc-this is the only fundraiser where every penny you help raise goes directly to our Room 10 classroom. There are two ways to help fund raise for our classroom: The first is for students to collect pledges and walk laps this Saturday, Sept. 20 down at Lover’s Point. Each lap is about a mile, so I told students they should...

Homework Updates

Posted by on Sep 11, 2014 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Dear Parents, Hello! Just a couple of quick homework updates: Engrade has been updated, with the exception of Bellwork. If your child insists they turned in an assignment that shows as missing, please remind them to check the No Name clip. I believe there are 15-20 assignments in there at the moment that no one ever wants to claim. Book reports are due tomorrow! Reading logs are due tomorrow! Students need to be reading 20 minutes each night (this applies to the entire fifth grade). I do check these every week. If students are unable to read...

KAZU Field Trip Drivers Needed!

Posted by on Sep 9, 2014 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Dear Parents, Hello! We’re heading on over to the KAZU radio station on Friday to learn about how to produce our own classroom radio shows. It’s just a short jaunt from RHD-about 15-20 minutes.  Problem? We’re a few drivers short! I need seats for 14 more students on Friday. I currently have Heather Cox, Fannie Malone, Vivian Duffy and myself driving. Unless we strap children to the roof, which for some reason is prohibited by the school, we’re in a tight spot. Could you join us from 8:45-12? If so, reply to this...
